Follow these rules and this course will be a breeze!
Classroom Expectations
Student’s Role
You are expected to complete the daily bell ringer/warm ups, take accurate class notes, keep an organized science section, complete all assignments and participate in activities. This combination will help prepare you for quizzes and tests. We have high expectations for learning, which means we have high expectations for hard work.
- Respect ME, your CLASSMATES, and YOURSELF
- Don’t embarrass ME, your CLASSMATES, or YOURSELF
- Be PREPARED and MENTALLY PRESENT
- Upon arriving in class each day, read the board. You will have the first few minutes of class to complete the warm-up found on the board in the front of the room.
- In an effort to minimize interruptions during class, sharpen your pencil during the first few minutes of class. Sharpening will not be permitted once class has begun. If your pencil breaks during class, please raise your hand.
- Assignments with no name will earn no grade.
- Copying or cheating will not be tolerated. This will result in a zero on all assignments, for all parties involved, as well as a phone call home. Be proud of your learning, do your own work!
- I expect your attention during class. Good listening is an important and necessary skill to be successful in this class.
- No food, drink, or chewing gum is permitted in this laboratory classroom. Please help keep our classroom safe and productive. Any exceptions to this rule must be arranged with Ms. Robinson ahead of time.
- You will keep up with your science binder. I expect it to be up-to-date, complete, and neat. Occasionally science binders will need to be “cleaned out.” Cleaned out materials need to be stored, but not thrown away. Your science binder will be graded.
- All assignments and due dates will be posted on the board daily as well as on the course website. You should write down all of your assignments in your agenda each day.
- Late Work- 1 day late -10% deduction, 2 days late -20% deduction, 3 days late- 30% deduction, 4 days or more late, -40 % deduction, 5 days late (the maximum amount of time assignment can be turn in) -50% deduction. No work will be accepted after 5 days late!
- If you are absent from class for any reason, it is YOUR responsibility to obtain: 1) a copy of the notes from the day(s) you missed, and 2) any homework or assignments along with their due dates.
- Check the appropriate homework folder for any assignments and handouts.
- If you are absent on the day an assignment is due, you must submit the assignment upon returning to school.
- If you know you are going to be absent, please discuss and collect any work you may need from Ms. Robinson.
